Travertines are sedimentary rocks formed as a result of geological, geomorphological, hydrological, climatological, and biological activities. Travertine formations are commonly found along tectonic fault lines. Denizli Travertines are a Geographical Indication and differ from travertines found in other regions. Travertines are used in facade, floor, wall, and furniture designs. Depending on the project typology, they can be used naturally, filled with epoxy for indoor use, or filled with cement for outdoor use. Travertines, which exhibit different texture characteristics depending on the cutting direction, are produced using two different cutting techniques: vein cut and cross cut. In addition to being produced in blocks and slabs, they can also be cut to size. It is a natural stone that can undergo surface treatments such as honing and brushing.
